Contempt of court – the first step
It was a long and tiring journey to this non descript village near Nashik. Had lost most of the patience with a #$@# travel company that took so long to collect passengers in the bus and start an hour later.
The races were a terrible scene to watch.Thousands and thousands of villagers gathered all around the hills to watch the spectacle. Hundreds of trucks loaded with horses and bullocks were landing one after another and taking their position. They were being force fed alcohol and crudely injected with steroids.
The animals, two of totally different strength and temperament and strength were tied together and made to run out of fear. Then there were people on the small carts with their sharp sticks and nails to bleed the animals if they did not run. Not satisfied with that they were biting their tails.
I had no options but to watch and click pictures as many as I could. I had to detach myself from the human being in me. I had to be stone hearted and objective. I know the fact that these pictures that I click will the path to their ultimate freedom.
With a heavy heart I move back, but with a determination to fight back and avenge all the pain inflicted on the helpless.
